Saif Ali Khan says illness smoked out his nicotine craving.

Khan said in Monday's Mumbai , he had no choice but to give up smoking, but the process has been hard.
One of 'stop actors, Khan spent a week in the intensive care unit of a Mumbai hospital where he was admitted for chest pains in February. He promptly quit smoking on doctors' advise and reports that the first three weeks were tough.

He said he almost had a heart attack because of my smoking.
Khan hails from a well-known Indian family. Khan's father is former Indian cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and his mother is actress Sharmila Tagore, who was a big star in the 70s.

His sister Soha Ali Khan is also a actress.
He has had a recent run of hits in Omkara, an Indian adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello, Parineeta (The Wife), Hum Tum (Me and You), Salaam Namaste (Hello, Hello) and Dil Chahta Hai (What the Heart Wants).

Madhya Pradesh government suspended the screening of "Jodha Akbar" on Friday following protests against the film by the Rajput community in the state.

The Mughal-era romance of Emperor Akbar and his Rajput consort, brought to life by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, has sparked protests over the historical accuracy of his on-screen love life.

The order suspending screenings of "Jodhaa Akbar" was issued after some Rajput groups tore posters of the film and shouted slogans outside cinemas. They claim that Rajput princess Jodhaa was the Mughal emperor's daughter-in-law and not his wife.

"The screening of the movie has been suspended for the time being only," Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said at a press conference.

"Later, the situation would be reviewed and further decision would be taken."

But Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha, a Rajput community organisation, said protests would continue.

"We welcome the decision (but) opposition to this movie would continue demanding a blanket ban on the movie," Hemant Bahadur Singh Parihar said.

The organisation had earlier threatened to set ablaze cinema halls if screenings of the film were not stopped.

MINOR EXPLOSION DURING THE SCREENING OF JODHAA AKBAR.

MUMBAI:
A minor explosion occurred during the screening of Jodhaa Akbar in Panvel on Wednesday afternoon. The police said no one was injured and the afternoon show continued till the film ended.


The manager of Cine Raj told the police that the explosion, which occurred before the film's interval around 3 pm, left one seat damaged.


Navi Mumbai commissioner of police Ramrao Wagh said, "It wasn't a loud explosion, which was why there was no comm
otion in the hall."
